About Canta Libre

Picture
CANTA LIBRE (“Sing Freely”), a renowned quintet of flute, harp and strings,  was founded in 2002 by flutist Sally Shorrock to foster the performance and enjoyment of music composed specifically for harp quintet.

Considered experts in this ephemeral, rare style of chamber music with its origins in France, Canta Libre was recently featured at The American Harp Society 50th Anniversary National Conference, has appeared at Lincoln Center, on WNYC at The Green Space, The Music Festival of the Hamptons, Barge Music, Concerts at One at Trinity Church in Manhattan, WLIW TV, National Public Radio of Long Island, The Brooklyn Public Library, University of Texas at Austin, and Bruno Walter Auditorium, among other prestigious venues.

Canta Libre concerts are ADA accessible.
The ensemble’s latest CD was designated
“the best new U.S. release” by BBC Music Magazine in March of 2011.
Canta Libre is represented by Jeffrey James Arts Consulting.
